Ayia Napa This is the info page for The Spot club in Ayia Napa. For the year 2001 this has to be the number one stop for Ayia Napa Information. Watch out, log in, see yah there. Check the Ayia Napa 1999 summary. If you have never been before, its worth a read. Compare it to this year - my oh my its changed: THE AYIA NAPA STORY. The Real Deal. Summer 1999. Four or five years ago me and another "London Underground 89.4fm" colleague of mine DJ Ramsey started playing UK Garage in Ayia Napa. To say started was an understatement, as the opposition to it was fair. With the exception of Nick Power @ the Kool Club, Finos Melas @ Black and White, and the Alexander Bar crew, the club and bar owner were not having it. It was hard work, but we had some great times. Who can forget the early Kool Club mega sessions with Steve Jackson as MC, Andy "Man United" Cole as chief cheerleader (ringleader), and the London "Spot" boys causing extreme havoc. Well look where we are now. Four years on we have the first "Ayia Napa on the Map" summer. Is it a good or bad thing: Good: The people, the great great people. The Music. Lots of the music I love, albeit maybe too much. Nissi Beach, need I say more. DJ Debates on Nissi Beach. Meeting old friends in a hassle free zone. Ayia Napa. Bad: Too many promoters. Too many DJs Too many MC's Too much attitude Too many people who forgot they are actually on holiday. So for next summer how do we make it better: Leave the attitude at home, and enjoy yourself. Treat the locals with respect and they will treat you like family. Stop trying to make Ayia Napa Ibiza - It isn't and never will be. Andy Cole (sorry you couldn’t make it this year), Steve Jackson, Spoony, The Dreem Teem, Timmi Magic, Mikey B, Ramsey, Finos and Linos Melas, George, Makis, Todd Edwards, Mindos @ Alexanders, Dave Howells and Sammy Sam. Rossi A and Jensen, Jit and the London Spot Crew, Grayson, Elliott (My Yoot), Matt White, Tuff Jamm (Karl Browm & Matt Lammont), Spiros, Panikos, and Andreas @ the Spot, Dave Blackwood, Mr Jones and Bill @ Numb Nums, Richie and Roger @ the Vibe, Nick Power @ Kool, Rainey Daze for the design, Pieris, Yanis and Nick @ Paloma, DJ Omar, Dennis and Granville @ Soul Central, Kiri, George and S @ Pure Silk, Tony and Doug @ 4 Liberty, Dean, Scott and Ian @ Music Power and everyone else I have almost certainly forgotten. Special Mention to Spiros @ the Spot for helping to start and keep Underground UK Garage alive in Ayia Napa. The original 1995 crew, including Dave “da Spot” Blackwood, Spiros “Da Spot” ??? Spiros, Colin Williams, and Andy “Man Utd” Cole. Don’t forget to stay in touch. Letters, DJ Bookings, News Updates. Email or snailmail to RealTime. PO Box 27603. London N9 8WG. |
